Powerboats and poker run enthusiast Ed

Nichols also made the long-distant trip from
Florida to enjoy the run. Most of these mod-

els were lined along Ontario St. in down-
town Kingston during the Friday Night Street

Party, which attracted countless of spectators
admiring the models up close and personal.

What made the run extra special this year
was the presence of The King of Offshore

a documentary, King of Offshore: The

Reggie Fountain Story, which spans Reggie

Fountain’s 50-year tenure in the world of
offshore.

“Reggie is an icon and has a celebratory
status that still stands today,” Potts told

Poker Runs America. “I felt that capturing
that status would add a great deal to the

documentary as part of Reggie’s 50-year
career. A good place to do that would be at

an event such as the 1000 Islands Poker Run.”

Basin early Friday evening, it was apparent

performance world, taking his time greeting
participants, discussing boat models, posing

By nightfall, the players were in full party

mode. The slips were busy and downtown
Kingston was even busier. Live music filled

the air, the streets bustled with excitement
and restaurants and bars were standing

room only. During all the excitement, the
players made their way to the poker run

welcome reception on the top floor of The
Delta Kingston Waterfront hotel where

they enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and cold
beverages while enjoying the panoramic Micheal Alexander of West Islip, NJ, running his

As many called it an early night, others

could be seen at any given trendy restaurant

next day at the mandatory drivers’ meeting

To make a great poker run even bet-
ter is tough to do at the 1000 Islands run.
