Expect to see a redesigned 29’ Fever from Washington, NC-based Fountain Powerboats as soon as the 2015 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show as the company is set to modernize and re-introduce the model for 2016.
“We’re looking at re-introducing the 29’ Fever with a target of offering a single-engine boat that will hit 70-75 mph for a reasonable price,” said Johnny Walker, President and CEO of Baja Inc., which owns Fountain Powerboats, Baja Marine, Donzi Marine and Pro-Line Boats. “Our plan right now is to modernize the 29,’ designing upgrades to the cabin and cockpit. We also want to see how it runs with a Mercury Racing 520 as opposed to the 525 EFI, and possibly hold the price range.”
Walker explained the demand comes from recent requests from consumers looking to get into a Fountain Powerboat v-bottom as customers still have a strong passion for speed on an optimum running boat such as the 29.’
“The 29’ Fever is a great running boat and through our research we realized the 29’ could satisfy that niche for those people,” explained Walker. “We want to get a Fountain out there that the average boater can buy. We are hoping to have it ready in time for the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show this Fall.”
