An Ohio judge called the former owner of Spectre Powerboats a “professional grifter” and sentenced him to more than two decades in prison for boats he never delivered.
Todd Allen Lamb, 51, was sentenced to 21 to 26 1/2 years in prison and ordered to pay more than $750,000 in restitution by Logan County Judge Kevin P. Braig in November 2025. A jury convicted Lamb of eight felony counts including grand theft, defrauding customers and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.
Prosecutors said that Lamb scammed multiple victims, including boat buyers and businesses, in six states. He never delivered the boats, instead using the money for real estate, business expenses and family loans, prosecutors said.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation started investigating Lamb after he moved Spectre Powerboats from Central Ohio to DeLand, Florida. The victims said they had paid for new boats that were never delivered.
Lamb addressed the court before Judge Braig handed down the lengthy prison sentence.
“This is something I feel sorry about and it spun out of control,” said Lamb, dressed in an orange jumpsuit. “There is no excuse.”
According to prosecutor Eric Stewart, Lamb will have to serve a minimum of 21 years before he is eligible for parole. Lamb has previous felony convictions including theft of construction equipment and possessing multiple illegal machine guns.
Lamb’s ex-wife, Karen Nicole Lamb, was facing nine felony counts, but they were dropped by prosecutors in exchange for her cooperation.
