Speed is something Mark Tuck takes seriously. His 44 Outerlimits is powered by 1075 hp Mercury Racing engines with Number Six drives and explained he can reach speeds of 128 mph, which we agree is more than enough punch to keep up with the pack. We caught up with Tuck at our 2013 1000 Islands Poker Run in Kingston, ON, last summer and while he has been on many power runs, the Kingston event was his first with PRA.

Interesting enough, Tuck made the long distant trek from his home in Smithfield, VA. to Kingston, ON., after making an arrangement with performance enthusiast Joel Begin that he attend the 1000 Islands run in exchange that Begin attend a poker run event in Northern Virginia. The rest, as they say is history, and Tuck took full advantage of the beautiful region.

As Tuck enjoys boating with his wife, Nancy, and two daughters, Kelsey, 21, and Kaitlyn, 19, he explained Nancy is excellent to have on the boat and claims that she makes him “look good.”

“A lot of women can be intimated by speed but Nancy isn’t,” says Tuck. She likes poker runs. But to really embrace what poker runs are all about, you need a spouse who likes it as well.”

When asked about attending future events, Tuck explained he is currently concentrating on making fine adjustments to a Outerlimits 43SV as he is part of a team that is coordinating the logistics and preparing the boat for the world record attempt. While the team still needs to determine what exact kilo-race they will enter, Poker Runs America wishes them all the luck for a top speed.
